Some problems seem unsolvable, bigger than life. That’s the bad news. The good news is that every problem has a weakness.
You are not meant to be a victim of your problems. Rather, you are supposed to find their weaknesses and use this knowledge to resolve them.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a problem-free life? Well, no. Of course, if you believe that you just have to follow the “rules” that some other human being assigned as your path in this life, you are not going to appreciate the wonderful gifts that your problems offer you.
Your path in this life is yours and yours alone. It doesn’t mean there are not commonalities between your experiences and those of others. It simply means that you and only you can determine how you view the choices that arise in your life. Your life experiences and your reactions to them up to any given point in time is unique. Even if someone empathizes with your situation, it merely means they can relate to many of the emotions attached to it and certain of the circumstances. However, they can never feel exactly how you feel.
So, how can a problem be a gift? My husband always used to say, “Every problem has a gift within it, but you have to unwrap it first.” This is so true. You have to step back, free yourself from the angst, the anger, the sadness, the weariness – whatever emotion is actively holding your attention. You have to view the situation with clarity. Then you have to seek answers.
Problems Can Exist for Many Reasons
1) The flawed use of your power to create your life is certainly a common one. This happens because you lack a clear vision of what you desire. Creating a clear vision is a multi-step process [which I discuss in MindSlap! Shifting Your Perspective from Conditioned Reactions to Conscious Choices]. If your investment of energy is lacking, the manifestation fails to live up to your original vision, creating problems for you.
The problem gives you the gift of being able to see where work needs to happen before your desire can manifest.
2) Sometimes problems are simply drawn to you because your spiritual growth requires you to learn a lesson, to upgrade your understanding of who you truly are. The gift offered is the chance to heed a wake-up call.
3) Sometimes problems recur because you haven’t completely resolved your feelings about an inner attitude yet, and it gives you the opportunity to make peace within yourself.
4) Sometimes a problem opens your mind to opportunities you never considered before. This gift lets you know you are growing and ready for new challenges in life.
Problems are the means by which you learn how to handle your inner and, thus, your outer worlds.
David and Goliath
Metaphysically, the battle between David and Goliath demonstrates that every overwhelming problem has a weakness. David was able to kill Goliath not because he was bigger or stronger, but because he was the only one who looked for Goliath’s weakness rather than seeing him as a bigger-than-life threat. This was the gift offered to David.
Goliath represents your problem. If you accept a problem to be an overwhelming one, your own imagination clothes that idea with the necessary form to make it real. In other words, to make you a victim of the apparent problem.
This does not have to be the case. Your imagination is the key. It opens the door to what seems improbable, if not impossible. This is true whether your problem is major or minor, whether it involves economics, health, relationships, or spiritual growth.
So What Is the Self-Destruct Button?
Failing to look for the gift in your problems is the self-destruct button. If you choose to jump in feet first and wallow around in the problem, moaning and groaning, you are short-changing yourself. You are destroying opportunities to learn, to grow, to experience joy.
Next time you encounter a problem, take a deep breath and calm your mind. Then step outside the problem to gain a clearer perspective and ask yourself, “What gift does this problem have to offer me?”
All the best on your quest,
Dannye
