Are We Moving Into a New Resurrection?

In the Phenomenon of Man, Pierre Teilhard claimed that there are two forces in the Universe that are responsible for all of the advancement and evolutionary progress since the beginning of time. He called these forces tangential and radial energy. Tangential energy is the force which draws like things together. As more and more of these like things are drawn together, they come under the influence of radial energy. Radial energy draws the whole into a new level of understanding and expression.

Teilhard was right, and these forces work on more than your private thoughts. They draw together those of like-mind – those who have similar attitudes toward life. My late husband said those drawn together in a church were examples of tangential energy – like attracting like. In a church, if members were drawn individually and collectively into a new level of understanding and expanding experience, it was through the influence of radial energy.

Thus, it is important that we seek to interact with people in our lives who not only accept who we are without conditions, but also support us and our dreams as we in turn do the same for them. Tangential energy can draw us together for a myriad of reasons. We experience the effect of radial energy when together we reach a higher level of understanding in our endeavors through our interactions with one another.

Remember that on our life journey, we seek to enhance our understanding of many things, not the least of these is understanding who we truly are and how we can express our highest potential. In this process we are regularly faced with lessons that offer us opportunities to make choices. If we choose our paths wisely, we have the promise of a gift of higher understanding and experiences

In the circumstances we are facing today in the United States of America, the journeys of many are coming together. Those who seek life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all persons are being drawn together by tangential energy (like-minds). These individuals who are keeping their eyes on the prize, so to speak, by failing to invest energy in striking back in kind are igniting radial energy, which causes the energy balance in the country to begin shifting.

The situation in the United States is full of promise for change. It is also full of frustrations and other negative emotions. Frustration happens when circumstances fail to respond quickly enough. Frustration can lead to the expression of negative emotions. It is vital that we recognize these emotions but not let them hijack our focus and thus, our energies. Two levels of change must take place - internally within each of us and externally through committed actions – for permanent change to occur. Both contribute to the level of positive energy needed to shift the balance away from the darkness that has overtaken our country.

A New Resurrection

Where we are today isn’t a great environment for being able to ignore what is when it is hurting so many. However, it is a time of crucifixion, in my opinion, for America and the people in it. We have to let go of our baggage, which means we have to identify the prejudices and other issues. We have to acknowledge our erroneous attitudes as a country and as individuals about so many things, and only then can we move into a resurrection, a new way of life for ourselves and this country. Right now, we are seeing the huge contrast between better and worse. If we want to upgrade to the best, we have to clarify what that is and reach for it.

As individuals, we are all challenged every day. Few of us have lives that are even close to perfect, but we meet the challenge of doing what we need to do for our family and friends. As citizens, we must also remember that the actions we take as a nation can have far-reaching impacts on the other nations in the world. We cannot exist alone any longer because the world is changing. It is up to us whether we choose to maintain the status quo or whether we choose to resurrect from this current challenge in a way that is empowering for all humanity.

Why Can’t It Be Easier?

Things that come too easily are not usually valued. Despite our flaws, things in this country have been easier than in most countries; hence, the “American Dream.” Over the decades we have taken too much for granted. If we hadn’t, those who have been plotting for half a century or more to dismantle our democracy wouldn’t have made the progress they have. During this gradual insurrection, our energies were on the American way of life, however you define it, until many of us found ourselves struggling to survive. That very struggle distracted us from the nefariousness of negative forces until the balance shifted, and they stepped onto the national stage in full view of us all.

This is our crucifixion. It is up to us if we resurrect into a better nation.
